Ever wonder about the origins of the attractive Florida In A Box logo? Certainly, the charismatic, pink flamingo wouldn't have half the character he does without the design talents of Miko Radcliffe, graphic designer extraordinaire. But, the little-known secret is that our feathered friend first made his debut nearly three decades ago! In a high school art class circa 1980, Christine Carrizales was assigned to write a children's book. Using a Royal typewriter, watercolor paints and India ink, and her mother's sewing machine, Christine wrote, illustrated and bound "The Adventures of Floyd the Three-Legged Flamingo." Ignored by literary critics and passed over for juvenile writing awards, the book was forgotten for many years. It recently turned up in a former office colleague's desk and was returned to the author by the U.S. Postal Service. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to read "The Adventures of Floyd the Three-Legged Flamingo" by downloading the PDF file featured below. |
